• Dawn Hewins

Dawn joined Stoke-on-Trent City Council in 1994 and started her current role in January 2010 as Assistant Director – HR and Transformation bringing together the Human Resources, Health and Safety, Organisational Development and Transformation sections from across the organisation to focus on leading change.
Due to reduced budgets over 700 people have left the authority during the last 10 months, following a challenging corporate restructuring exercise which Dawn led.

Employee welfare was a key concern and Dawn put initiatives in place to manage the anxiety and stresses for employees during this difficult time. Her efforts were recognised when the city council won the ROSPA Gold Occupational Health Award; Smoke Free Staffordshire Breathe Easy Award and Chamber of Commerce Workplace Health Award. The Best Companies Survey 2010 awarded the Council ‘one to watch’ status for the future.

Born and educated in Stoke-on-Trent, Dawn has a passion for the area and feels lucky to have found a job which she loves. She has been supported by the city council in achieving her CIPD and British Psychological Society Levels A and B, which are put to good use in her role for assessment centres for executive appointments.
